The DAC MK 5 is a multi-format digital to analog converter of unprecedented accuracy and musicality. Based on the renowned AK4490EQ D/A converter, our implementation uses independent active voltage references for the highest conversion accuracy and absolute best low-frequency linearity.
Analog processing is handled by discrete solid-state class A circuits. These incredibly linear and musical circuits present the kind of transparent highs and liquid mids you’ve come to expect from the best tube circuits combined with the solid bottom that you've come to expect from the best solid state.
The DAC MK 5 seamlessly supports PCM data streams up to and including 192kHz and DSD64, DSD128, and DSD256 formats. Sample rate and format information are displayed using elegant front panel indicators. It has a total of five inputs: two coax S/PDIF, two optical S/PDIF, and one USB input.
It comes with a premium 1/4" double anodized silver faceplate.
Inputs: Five fully isolated inputs consisting of one galvanically isolated USB, two transformer isolated S/PDIF RCA coaxial, and two TOSLINK-style S/PDIF optical inputs. The USB input is Audio Class 2 (UAC2) compliant and supports DSD over PCM (DoP).
Stream compatibility: PCM up to and including 192kHz sample rates (coaxial and USB only), DSD64 (USB only), DSD128 (USB only) and DSD256 (USB only). USB compatibility has been tested on macOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems. Windows users will need to install a freely available driver for 176.4k-192kHz PCM and DSD support. Note: Currently DSD 256 will not work with Apple operating systems.
Output: One set of stereo RCA outputs, 2.8V @ 0dbFS, 600 ohm impedance.
Dimensions: 17" wide, 12" deep, 3.57" high. Shipping weight is 16 pounds.
Power: 120 VAC wiring is standard. For international use, a 240 VAC (50-60 Hz) option is available at additional cost. Both options include an IEC power jack and 120 VAC polarized power cord.
